In One Sentence: A great reference book for kids.
Description from Amazon page:
With this book in hand, readers of any age will discover — just outside their own doors, no matter where they live—a world they never knew existed. Stunning photography is combined with expert information to create an up-close-and-personal tour of the hidden lives of spiders, beetles, butterflies, moths, crickets, dragonflies, damselflies, grasshoppers, aphids, and many other backyard residents. You won’t believe your eyes! Each creature is shown in its natural setting, and many are shown progressing through the stages of their life cycles. This is a one-of-a-kind look at some of life’s most fascinating mysteries — surprising, captivating, and perfect for nature lovers of all ages.
This is a wonderful book that encourages your child's interest in nature. My son is at that age where he wants to know everything... I mean EVERYTHING! And this book actually came in handy. He found a bunch of tiny, yellow dots on the underside of a leaf and asked me what they were. We quickly and easily determined they were lady bug eggs using the handy dandy comparison guide in the back of the book. From there we learned a ton about lady bugs and their habits.
This would be a very nice addition to any kid's bookshelf no matter their age. Even though the pictures give me the heebie-jeebies, I could see Tommy spending plenty of time just looking through the images.
Bottom Line: If you have a budding bugologist in your household, this is the book for them.
